What amazes me is how expensive land is in the Jackson Hole Wyoming area, yet there is so much of it. Millions of acres. A postage stamp lot sells for a million plus?????? Don't get it? If the government sold some of this idle land they could pay down some debt, at the going rates they could pay down a chunk. Just like the lands in Michigan. Build a prison with Lake Michigan view??? what a waste. Not to get to far off topic, but look at plat maps, the gov. has land locked and land lock others with the bits and pcs. of land they own. sell them and collect taxes on that land. In Irons area they own a 1/2 acre here and a 1/2 acre there. makes no sense unless thats how they keep land prices inflated for the owners around that land.
I suppose the high land prices are good out west since who wants to have a trailer park blocking the view. they already have plenty enough of that out there since nothing seems to rust into the ground.
