Snowmobile Helmets

I agree with the BRP modular. By far the best helmet I have ever owned. I came from a helmet with an electric shield and they are nice but a pain in the a**

I do a lot of trail riding. I did have an electric wind shield but the chord kept getting in the way. I just want something that doesnt fog up

Go with an open face and goggles. No fogging, better sight lines, and you look cooler!

Seriously though, I used to wear a full face helmet, and changed over a couple years ago, and wouldn't ever go back. Granted, it's not as 'warm' as a full face, but if you have the right stuff underneath, it's all good.

BRP Modulars are nice. Polaris AF-1 is good to and a different style. I have glasses and the AF-1 does the job well. Electric Shield cords can be a pain to deal with. The open face with goggles is cold and in my opinion is more geared for the extreme/ race riders. For trail riding, go with the AF-1 or BRP modular.

Are the BRP Modulars available without any BRP or SkiDoo markings? It seems like a really good helmet, but I sure don't want any of that brand being visible anywhere near me or my sled. I like the way the helmet fits and looks if it weren't for the markings, the dealer I visited only had helmets that had markings all over them.

Straight black I believe only has a brp symbol on the back. Small round emblem. I myself have always loved my Modular 1. Thought about upgrading to the 2 but haven't yet. Could care less what brand I ride will always wear that helmet.

dafuzz,

The black Modular 2 helmet has a small BRP emblem on the front and back. You can pull them off if you are that turned off by it. For the record I see a lot of Yammi, Polaris and Cat riders with the Modular/BV2S helmets and as far as I can tell it doesn't affect the sleds performance.....to each their own

FYI, there are some killer deals on the Modular and BV2S helmets on eBay. Back in July, I picked up a brand new Mod 2 for $180 shipped.

As long as I can get the stickers off, I'd probably go for one. I'll do some searching on Ebay and find a deal.

I'd just be afraid that with the SkiDoo/BRP symbol that close to my sled, it'd start wearing off and my sled would start running like crap and breaking down, you know, usual SkiDoo stuff! Haha. I've never rode a SkiDoo newer than a 1971 Olympique, but that was a pile of crap, so I put all of them into that group. I'm sure new SkiDoos are fine, who knows, if I rode one, I'd probably get converted over from Poo, but I wouldn't want that to happen.

I have 4 modulars and as of last year decided to wear my glasses. No Problems . I have a doo, a poo, and a foo. I think the helmet makes them faster ( LOL ). Seriously.... I looked into finding these helmets from the OEM which is Laser. They are out of Sweden I think. Those things must be made exclusively for BRP because Laser does not have anything like it on their website. That's what I found last year when I researched it.

Well I have to admit, they are windy.... but are night & day better than the old school helmets I owned up until they came out.
