Thanks for posting the video Scott, I hope everyone realizes how big these heaves are and they will be around all year. Carolyn from the Hoop has been in touch with the State Police and asked if there is something they can do to mark the hazards, Michigan has a policy of not marking hazards on a Lake for whatever reason. SO far 2 sleds have went in the Lake and 1 person was injured from hitting one of the heaves. I heard a concussion and broken arm was "ÄLL" that happened to him. We are trying to warn everyone we can about the danger, I am going to send a photo to John to see if he has a place to post it to keep riders aware of the situation.

It was not caused by driving to fast that I know of. In fact one of the sleds that went in, the guy stopped and was looking at the open water when he went down. Just too close to the edge I guess. Makes me wonder why all the guys during the rescue didn't go in.

He was in my bar today, when I asked him if $3000 was what it cost, he said probably more like $5000 to $8000. He is just glad everything turned out ok.

Dont' see how it could cost that much unless Mi DNR is like MN DNR. Huge fine per day of machine in water. had a buddy that has half a brain drive his skidloader onto the Mississippi ice trying to recover a pickup..... Dumbazz.... anyway he paid fine times 2 and I think it was in the 10's of thousands.....

i met the guy at Tom's bar on Monday, he was still pretty shook up. He actually went into the lake and had to pull himself out. Pretty $#@!* scary if you ask me. Not sure if anyone has ever been in icy water with heavy clothes on before but its extremely difficult to get out, we did it for a training demonstration before. Glad to see he was safe in the end.
