Snowmobile trail plan at edge of Boundary Waters Wilderness in MN causing rift.

The extremists make it sound as if there would be a continuous line of snowmobile traffic. What's louder a few snowmobiles or a plane flying overhead? Why must there be such exaggeration?

Not to mention, how many people are actually up there camping in the winter. Give me a break. Can you imagine the money and resources spent on this project so far to just try and keep a few tree huggers happy? Build the trail already....

The one quote "beyond ridiculous" says it all. Millions of acres of wilderness and they want to "stretch" the boundary. Forget the "millions" of uses. I'd like to see a study of how many users are in "that are" December through Mach. I've been to the BWCA over a dozen times and love it. If this were a year round road with trucks, etc. they might have an argument. I've seen lots of guys on trails up there going fishing...in Carharts pulling their fish shacks, puttering along. Leave them alone.

What surprises me is that people who read the article and commented did not understand the difference of the planned new trail was NEAR the BWCA, and not in it like the illegal one that was shut down.

Lame. Environmentalists would like to tell everyone how to live. They walk through life with blinders on seeing only what they want.

AT&T went thru the same issues when they applied to put up a cell tower north of Ely that was miles away from the Boundary Waters.
