So how heavy are these yamaha 4 strokes?? (driving wise)

I have driven nothing but single up, 2 stroke sleds. I was looking to get a 2 up, 4 stroke, at 600 + pounds. Are these sleds real "heavy" to drive? I am a trail rider but do like to zip along here and there. Do you definitely feel the weight of these sleds when your driving them. I am more concerned about driving solo, then with 2 people.

Thanks

I have a 2013 Venture GT and have put on about 350 miles so far this year (2 long weekends). Yes, it is a heavy sled. The power steering takes the "heavy feel" away while steering in the twisties, loading, parking lots, etc... I believe the rear suspension is dialed in perfect at the stock settings. The seat is set up nicely for driving solo or with someone else. I have been driving with someone on the back all year so I have ridden this sled solo yet. I also have a 2010 Venture GT without the power steering (for sale in case anyone is interested) and have ridden this one solo and is a nice machine to ride with either one or two people. I purchased the 2013 model solely based on the power steering. I have 2011 & 2012 Apex XTX's with power steering and once you ride with it, it's hard to go back. Hope I helped...glad to answer any more of your questions.

I don't own a Yamaha 4s sled and I have never ridden a 2 up Yahama but I will say that the weight of the Apex never bothered me in the couple hundred miles I have put on one. My personal opinion: if you are strictly a trail rider, you ride mostly in the UP and you are not a "Ricky Racer" you can't find a sled more suited for the UP type trails.

Stop by Pat's Yamaha in Greenland, they will be more than happy to let you take one for a ride.

Have had Yammi 4's for 10 years. They take a little getting used to. I was on a ZR 800 before I got my first RX1. At first I hated the Yammi. It is heavier and it rides completely different than any single seat two smoker. But you get addicted to the motor. After you get used to it it does not 'ride' that heavy. You notice the weight most when you are horsing it around in your garage or loading and unloading it. And if you ever get stuck you better not be alone. The power steering on the new ones further masks the weight. But keep in mind that with a full tank of gas you are close to 700 lbs on a new XTX. Without a rider. All geared up you ae looking at nearly 1/2 ton of rolling mass. This is something to consider when trying to slow down or stop. These things accelerate a lot quicker than they decelerate. Some physics going on here. Still I don't think I would give up the Yammi just because of the gas and go nature of Yammi. Yes, all sleds break down and someday I might get stranded on a Yammi. But in the last ten years and over 30000 miles I have not walked yet. Hope this helps.

Yamaha's are nice but try a ski doo 4stroke once , you can add a 1+1 seat. i think there 535lbs and 135 hp. i have driven both doo, nitro, apex and vector. i liked the vector better then apex as far as the ride but the ski doo just felt lighter and easier to throw around the trails

Not sure why you want a 2up sled? Riding 2up gets old real quick no matter the brand or features. Yes Yam 4s are heavy to horse around a trailer or pull out of deep snow but on the trail very much a well balanced point & shoot sled. I'm just a few miles short of 9000 miles on my Attack GT & never had a problem so to me I will always be a Yam rider until other 4s OEMS can prove they can be a good as Yam. Seeing that Doo just went to edrive clutch on 4s tells me tra clutch did not hold up well to demands of 4s powerband where Yam is all 4s so 2s features do not have to be shared with 4s.

Don't really have any problems with the Yam 4-stroke but mainly trail ride. My wife rides an RX-1 and she handles it fine, granted she's not an aggressive rider but always manages to keep up.

I have a 08 Apex LTX (136 inch track).
Only put in gas and go, never had a problem with it.
I did put the new style skis on it this year and it really helps the darting.
I would like to get a new one with power steering but will wait until next year.
Should be some great deals with all the left overs.

If you make it up to Hancock, I have a new 2012 you're welcome to test drive. Yamaha has some great rebates and finance offers going right now.
