To the Dee family my sympathies. Having just gone through this 11 months ago with my 15 year old it is a very tough thing to go through. Just be thankful for the full house you share yet. My condolences!! Amazing animals but they should live as long as people!! Oh and quit cutting the onions already....

We had to put our 6 year old shepherd down last March. Stupid cancer! I still think about him everyday, so I feel your pain John. Condolences to you and the family. Edit: just read your entry for this week and brought tears to my eyes.

Great journal, John. Awesome tribute to Millie. Thanks for sharing. I echo sweepeerguy, "sad to lose a fur child." Stay strong.

The journal is a tear jerker for sure! John has a very good way of telling a story and he did a great job for Millie! The love we have for our dogs is something very special, but nothing beats the love a dog has for us, it's unconditional. I just wish their time with us was much longer. I'm very sorry for your loss John, Nora, Grace, Huck and Bleau.

So sorry to hear this. I know how you felt fighting with a decision as our last pet put me there, I was even getting angry as it was totally unexpected as we just got back from a trip and a few hours later after being admitted we were given the options and we had to make a decision and that is where is was getting angry as whom was I to decide what his fate was to be and I had no idea what he thought.
That was tough, so to deal with the loss I talked the wife into some volunteering to socialize with cats at the shelter and eventually we ended up adopting not just one but two. The volunteering was tough at first but it helped us immensely. And get this all my life I was never a cat guy but they have changed my life in ways I never dreamed of.

Here is to all the pets in everyone's life past and present...Thank you!!!

Dear John and family,
My deepest condolences and thoughts and prayers are with you with your loss, I know what you’re going through as I’ve been through it myself a few times, I wrote this poem for you and I hope it helps to ease the pain

Days of memories past
days of long ago
we took in a new member
in our family as we know

she was a beautiful little pup
with a warmness that can’t be undone
as we looked down at our new friend
with a smile as warm as the sun

the years went past and the pup grew up
and we all shared all our love within
for a long and loving relationship
was where it all did begin

Millie’s devotion to all of us
is something left deep in our heart
a loving lasting memory
all given to us from the very start

the sadness of our loss does hurt today
we know the reason why
some day we hope to meet again
in that beautiful place beyond the sky

I have no words to ease your pain, I've only had one dog in my life and I cannot even think about loosing him. I understand how you must feel as I know my dog is everything to my family. My children have grown up with our dog and he's 100% a family member, they are the most giving creatures and ask nothing in return ( ok mine want treats all the time ) I will say a prayer for Millie and your family, know this, you did the right thing and she will be in your hearts forever.

Many of us have followed the adventures of Huck and Millie since they were pups. Not only was she a much-loved member of the Dee family, she really was a member of the JD extended family. The JD members have said so many things here about our furry family members that are so true.

She was a wonderful dog and she had a wonderful home. Millie and your family got so much in return.

sorry to hear of the loss
not much harder in life than loosing a furry family member, the love they give is so unconditional, and there like forever children that look to you for everything, so its I think why they pull on our hearts so much when they pass!

remember the good times, as I am sure there are a lot of them!

John and family. After wiping the tears from my eyes, I just wish your family nothing but happy thoughts of Millie. I to lost my best friend in the last year. I also had a melanoma removed from the back, between my shoulder blades this winter. The 'C ' word is the worst. I didn't get to ride much this year, but everything is good now. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. You are a incredibly strong person. I have been to your site forever... Again so sorry, it's something I think animal lovers really get. I'm sure you know, the RAINBOW BRIDGE. She will greet you someday for sure. God watch over your awesome family!
