So, you think you need a $12k mountain sled to have fun in the backcountry??

The point is, these kids are out there having just as much fun as anybody else and they are ridding $500 dollar beaters. They're probably not complaining about all the money they "wasted" on snowmobiles, and here is the real kicker---they don't need four feet of powder to get use out of their machine!:)

If he didn't have such nice gear on,I would swear that was one of the local UP kids that tag along with us. His parents thank me for letting him go out with us. I thank them for the pleasure . Plus, they know the best play areas close to home!

I think this is now my all time favorite snowmobile video. Cool shots on old iron ridden by young guys makes this so special!

First, HEY, I had an '89 500. Second, this makes me want to get an '80-'84 John Deere Liquifire and put a 153" track on it and find a nice PSI engine to drop in it. That sled would go anywhere.

I am quite the smart ars on some threads,(klim). This video is why. I ride with a few great locals, some are on 500$ sleds and they feel thankful if their dad let them use the $2000 cream puff. Their hodge podge of gear keeps them warm. They never complain ,they are just happy to be in the woods riding. Just something to think about, the next time you drop big $on something you don't really need.fyi,I have nothing against Klim. When the snow returns, have fun with what you are riding and wearing. At the end of the day,as long as everyone had fun, mission complete!

I was thinking the exact same thing. Seems like it's real easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the newest, biggest, baddest, fastest, deepest, steepest, whatever, is necessary for having a good time. This video is a reminder that it isn't.

Loved the video.

Are you guys making fun of me because I ride up and down the Bill Nichols on my Summit with my backpack on and a shovel in my backpack?

Yes, we are making fun of You!

That was a great video, but, if you noticed, it was all sidehilling in a straight line or going downhill in a straight line. Don't get me wrong, that was awesome seeing the old iron out there tearing it up, but how "happy" would you be after doing that for a day? Sled nowadays are ridiculously priced, but look at the technology and power the newer ones have. I don't see an Indy 500 doing a tail stand, and spin 180 to go in the other direction or carve like a knife. Not to say many of us can do that move, but we have ability to with newer machines.

I will say, it does give me a new appreciation and a want..... to go buy a 80's-90's machine and build it up and out. Something you can ride in low snow and just beat the heck out of it.

Thanks Snoluver for the video.

the entire video in slo mo is kinda annoying but gotta say he was having fun and I am jealous. We didn't invent oftrail. I know many older guys around here and that's all they do and think nothing of it. The older boys may not be as aggressive but none the less they go where they want to

That was pretty awesome, I remember when we were at a CC race up in MN and a bunch of us took out 10 year old resort rental fan sleds and rode like we were 12 years old again. It was a absolute blast, no one could get over 65 mph so your skills really showed through.... on race day my race sled was taken apart in tech cause everyone knew it wasnt the rider anymore:)
