What kind do or have you had and what are your opinions.

Looked at Lund, Truxedo, Access(Agri-Cover Inc), etc...

If you are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area or bought online, where did you get it from and what was the price if you remember.

Thanks for the input.

I have had 3 diferent covers on 3 diferent truck all [utting on 80-100K miles. I have had tuxedo and agricover and they both did well but after a few years and 100K miles the velcro is shot and the vynle cracks, but I never park inside and they still don't leak except in the car wash, also get a dust gasket for your tailgate to keep dust, road spray and snow out of your bed. Also you can replace the velcro. the agricover has held up the best.

I have an Extang Full-tilt and I love it. I got it in '02 when my Silverado was new, and now it's on the '05 GMC I just picked up. About 3 years ago or so Extang replaced the tarp part of it because it had a couple tears that the company determined were caused by manufacturing defects. Can't beat that kind of customer service.

The Full-tilt gives you three options: You can roll it up like a traditional tonneau cover, you can flip it up like a hard tonneau cover, or you can completely remove it (which means you remove the frame that it's attached to -- the cover stays snapped in place). Removing it completely involves only undoing two gas struts from their mounting pegs -- it's literally a minute or less to remove it.

I actually just bought a new cover for my truck last month since I broke my old one years ago from trying to tilt it up with 3 inches of snow on it. oops. The one thing I will never go with is snaps or tilt ever again. Way to much hassle.

Ended up buying a TruXedo TruXport off of ebay. $318 with free shipping from GA. Took all of 40 min maybe to install. Mounts so most of the rails sit over the top of bed rails, and bars roll up, so you still get most use out of your bed without having to take anything off.

I bought the Access original and love it. Took about 30 minutes ti install and I like the lifetime warranty. I bought the Access because my neighbor has one thats 11 years old and it still looked great, doesn't leak, and works easily even though he stores the truck outside. Before I bought I called Access and asked about the warranty and parts costs, they were easy to contact and were very friendly and you even got a real person to talk to.

X2 on the extang full tilt, love it

X3 on the Extang, but I got the Trifecta. I've had a tonneau covers on trucks for what seems like forever. Most have been the dreaded snaps that I would never buy again. My last tonneau cover prior to the Trifecta was a Extang 3/4 quarter tilt. It wasn't a bad cover, but had snaps that broke off and hard to put the cover back on especially during the winter. What I like about the Trifecta is that it's easy to flip the section over when you just need to use part of the truck bed for hauling. Taking the cover off involves just loosening the 2 hold down clamps (1 on each side) on the front of the bed.

I had an Access installed when I bought my Dodge Dakota. Had the truck for six years and the Access cover was flawless. Liked it so much I had one installed on my Dodge Ram when I purchased it. Again flawless.

I bought a Truxedo and love it. I actually gave away my fiberglass cover after getting this one. The flexibility is great and no snaps!

being a distributor of all 5 brands. Anything Extang, Truxedo, or Undercover is great. I am not a big fan of Access but its a decent cover as well. All four companies are owned by the same group. If there are any issues they will be taken care of with no issues. Also they are all made in the USA. Extang in Michigan, Undercover out west, and Truxedo is South Dakota. If you go with a velcro roll up Truxedo is your best option. They are superior to Extang's Velcro Roll Ups. The Trifecta and Solid fold are the best of the best. No one can comes close to those with ease of use, quality, and overall fit. I would stay away from anything that involves snaps. The issue being that in the winter if you get some snow and ice good luck getting the cover back snapped. Also the claim is that during extreme cold the cover will not shrink. It will, and you will have to warm the tarp up in order to snap it back down. Under Cover speaks for itself. If you guy a hard cover like this do not buy any brand other than undercover. For instance on Armor Lid the plastic starts to seperate in the sun after time and turns into a big pain. The fitment of the Under Cover also surpasses any other hard unit like it. PM me if you want more information or where you can buy. I can give you a few dealers names. Good Luck!

X2 for this

One thing I will add. I bought my first Truxedo (different truck) off of eBay for under $300. It was fine BUT had plastic latches on both sides to keep the rear brace down. The newer Low Profile Truxedo I bought was basically the same except it had one single latch on the drivers side that was metal and MUCH easier to use. The newer one cost about $100 more and I bought it from a local dealership. It is worth the extra money if you can find a newer Truxedo cover.

I have had Truxport on my previous truck with velcro closure, & prior to that had one with snaps. Snaps are a problem when it's cold because the material does shrink in the cold, however, neither of them gave me a real problem & I park my truck outside all year long. The new truck, I decided to go with a GM cover which I was told was as good as Truxedo & the price was right as well. I have had no problems so far, plus I like the Chevy Bow Tie stitched into it.-Mezz

BakFlip G2

Just got a BakFlip G2 cover for my Ford 150 and really like it much better than the soft cover that I had on my Dodge Dakota. The BakFlip G2 is a hardcover with panels that easily folds over to allow you to haul your snowmobile or ATV. The cover is made 100% in the USA by Bak Industries (www.bakflip.com). Looks great too and provides security that the soft covers don't.
My soft cover was very difficult to reattach in the winter and wouldn't have another soft cover because of this problem in a cold climate.

While it is true that snaps are a pain in the arse when cold, with the Extang Full-tilt you almost never have to unsnap and roll it up. It's far easier to just completely remove it. I can count on one hand the number of times I've unsnapped and rolled it in 9 years of ownership.

Truxedo low pro! They are far better than the rest in my opinion. 6 years on my f-150 and it still looks and works like new. And its outside 75% of the time. Stupid toys take up my garage space.
