Something everybody should know - Just in case

Years ago, I was sitting at a bar next to a DNR officer and he was telling a story about a husband and wife who broke down (riding alone) north of Houghton. He started walking & she stuck with the sled. Hours passed, he didn't come back. Eventually (many hours later) he stumbled into a deer camp and happened to catch the last straggler who was on his way out. They started the task of finding her. Thankfully, when they got to her, she had started a fire using her underwear and didn't die of exposure. Two jokes were made that day, the first was, "shoulda just burned the sled, it was an Arctic Cat," the second joke, "she was plenty warm, they were big underpants."

Jokes aside, keep safe, this link is useful information about starting a fire in an emergency. I only wonder why he's starting a fire on a Ski-Doo when he's wearing a Polaris jacket? Maybe I know that answer.

Nippy taking underware off to start fire don't think I would have done that. Always have gas in tank even if you run out just dip map or anything that will burn in tank light up & instant fire.

I carry a tampon or 2 just for this reason, when out west. I can also give it to my riding partner when he gets crabby....
