I picked up one of these in the fall. It's a Sony with comparable picture and performance quality to a much higher $ gopro's with a much lower $. It has Wi-Fi and GPS and a ton of other features and acessories, I've been pleased with the purchase and I wanted to share it out. - link below:

If you wanted to pick up a camera but didn't want to drop 3 bills, this one might be for you.

Thanks for this. For that price I might just have to go pick one up.

Where do you mount it when riding your snowmobile? Is there an accessory I should get with it that you find works best, whether it be mounting it on the snowmobile or on the helmet?

You could go crazy with the accessories. I went in the cheap and just bought the camera. It comes with the waterproof case amd two sticky mounts, one flat and one curved bottom. It has a regular camera adapter that uses the 1/4-20 threads. In ebay there are tons of adapters to use gopro mounts with this camera too if you like the gopro selection better.

Currently I've used both mounts, one on my helmet, one on my daughters. It's done well on and off trail on my summit. Play with it a little and figure out what you'd like to do, its a great little camera.

Looks like a great deal! How easy is it to turn the record feature when mounted on the helmet with gloves on?

Super easy. There's a big button on the back that turns it on and off. If you're more tech savvy or if you want to drop the extra dough you could get the wrist controller for another hundred or so. Not as useful in winter but a smartphone can control it too.

My only complaint is the orientation of the camera but that hasn't been a real issue. It's longer than wide, imagine a gopro sideways for comparisons sake.

Added bonus is the gps data and a standard Sony battery. You can overlay gps into your video. Speed, elevation (I think) and physical map locations if you want to find that riding space again. The standard battery and pan style mounts means there are tons of eBay options for both.

Looks like a great deal. They look like they are hard to find, all the zip codes I checked in the store locator said not available.

Is there any lag time with the record feature. Like the go pros have to power up after a short time to rec. I was thinking of getting a contour roam. That one just slide the record button and good to go. Im looking for easy record with gloves on and such.

Look around the net a bit and you might still be able to find it elsewhere. I actually got mine for 10 bucks cheaper before tax and shipping a couple months ago from ABT but that was a sale on a sale sort if thing. This is the best price I've seen since. Usually when best buy drops prices everyone else does too because a new model is coming out and they want to drop their inventory. Ymmv

I haven't noticed any lag at the start but im not sure how it compares to the other units. Popular mechanics did a writer up of all the brands including Garmin and contour, search that out on their site. That's what I did before I bought.

It looks like all the best buys are sold out around me. if Wal-Mart, Sears or Kmart or someone else has it that price matches, they will honor that price.

Good luck. If anyone picked one up, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I used one of these last year, the AS30 model I think its called. Works great only thing I don't like is the wind noise going fast down the trail. I tore it off the top of my helmet last year on a branch, buddy drove over it and still works. I bought the contour brand adapter so it fits on all GoPro mounts, alot more mounting options then sony has. I will be using it like that this year. There is a couple second lag time for it to start recording. You can hear it beep if you are not moving and listen closely. You can hit the record button with gloves on easily. The wifi feature is great, I download to my Ipad or Android phone with no issues, and can use my phone to adjust it to get the angle I like. Do not keep it on the wifi feature to long because it sucks battery. Also spend the money and get the 32gb sd card do you don't get lag or jerkiness in film. I record in 1080p mode and battery last about 4hrs. I like it and I also bought it off of amazon.
