Well we tried but came up a little short on sleds. The checker flag lady at the end of the parade came over and told us 997 sleds participated today. Needed 1048 I believe. It was still a fun time dragging the “main” with all the sleds. Lots of spectators lined the street and waved us on. Maybe next year they will try again.

997 sleds is still a pretty darn impressive number. Kudos to the organizers who put the parade together and to all who participated. Hopefully someone will post a link to a video of the parade.

The proper term would be "slashing ash". Put a lot of miles on the old Ford slashing Ashmun on Friday and Saturday nights back in the early 90's. Down Ashmun left on Portage, Right at the Ojibway hotel( now a Ramada I believe) past the Locks, back up Ashmun to Burger King. Bumper to bumper at every stop light.

90’s? Well back in my day, early 70’s we called it dragging the main and we turned around at Easterday at the A&P store. No Burger King in my day, lol!!

Waconia vintage sled parade on Sat. , I believe, the official count was 953. Give or take a few I'm sure, but for a bunch of old sleds that is an impressive number.

No Burger King downtown (property where Roe Chevrolet used to be) but Burger Chef up on hill right. And A &W up there also.
In front of Togo's was the place to hang in the mid to late 70,s to see who was slashing Ash.
Or down at Chets if you were a pool player.
I lived right on the "slash" we owned the Parkway Motel, right across from the fountain at the Locks.
