The latest in weather forecasting. 2 options. This is all over now. Look at the NWS or accuweather or the weather channel or just about anywhere else. We have learned a whole bunch of weather terms in the last few years. Bomb cyclones. Verga. Inversion layers that change everything so that any forecasting is absolved from any previous forecasts. Weather forecasting has fallen in to the unfortunate status of just another media event. Sensationalized. Fear mongering. Fake news. 2 options? Why not 10? It might snow 10 inches. Or it might not do anything. Doesn't matter anymore. I no longer make any plans according to weather forecasts. I will just react when necessary. Which is about 1 tenth of the time.

Grub I found it’s best to count the snowfalls when they are on the ground hardly ever more than expected more often less. Works for me. Lol

We have a joke in our group that has been adopted from years of hanging around "Bingo", as known by many that have met him over the years.
He always ended any speculation about snowfall with a simple statement.
"We'll see what is on the gas pump in the morning"
Using his formula, we have all turned into fantastic forecasters. :rolleyes2:

I do look forward to learning more about weather. It's getting harder to find a gas pump.

in my line of business I have learned not to get my hopes up based on weather forecasts, however the "sensationalized" weather forecasts put the general public into a panic, and because of it I believe we have truly forgotten what winter is and was, what justifies a "snow storm" Having said that, I still enjoy John's forecasts and understand that they are just that without the overblowing media trying to put the fear of god into people watching them. I also like watching John's forecasts in hopes that they do come true for an industry and hundreds of small businesses that rely on snow. Outside of that, other than knowing if I might have to get up early to plow snow, I too put little faith in the "sensationalized" forecasts. As for John... keep up the good work and lets hope we see some color on your maps soon!!

Whole lot of truth to what you say Grub.

None the less, I will continue to see the glass half full. :)

Forecasts are fun, and especially fun when they turn out! I'll still see a half full glass as well, enjoy seeing the forecasts, regardless of outcome.

Yesterday Accuweather had the Lakewood area in the 10 to 15 range for snow. Today its a coating to an inch. Hope the old folks didnt bother stocking up at the store.
