Sound ordinance

I pass many conservation officers in the area. (Munising) Even stop and chat with them from time to time. I have never had one bring it up.

I have a 2000 Yamaha SRX with bender can and 2003 Viper Mountain with triple pipes. Not exactly the quietest but they both breath very well.

Yes and no. If there are a lot of complants in an area they will check. More money is made on checking trail permits and current registration stickers. Rolling stops is another big item they watch for. I have an SLP can and it quites right down if your not on it. At Trail permit check points (DNR and Sheriff will deny these exsist) I just let off and idle through no problem. A smile and a light wave goes a long way with these guys.

I think they check.

CO Grant Emery and local deputies teamed up for snowmobile sound test patrol.
Numerous tests were done to determine sound levels on snowmobiles. Three subjects
were ticketed for having exhaust emissions over the legal limit. COs Grant Emery, Jason Wicklund, Brian Bacon and Sgt. Marc Pomroy conducted a
joint snowmobile patrol with the US Forest Service. Sound testing was conducted, as
well as registration and speed related checks. No sound meter violations were
encountered, but six tickets were written for registration and trail permit violations. COs conducted two snowmobile patrols in Alger County targeting alcohol and excessive
sound violations. Several sleds were tested for excessive sound and many warnings
were given. One subject was ticketed due to the high decibel reading. The testing
received many positive comments from the snowmobilers.
