Left Super 8 in Houghton this morning via the canal, outstanding fun.
Took 3 south to 121 and 120 to complete the Freda loop, and on to Krupps for gas and pasty; trails were perfect as was the pasty and gas.

Next took 3 south to 12 west and finally 137 to Ontonagon, 3 was super and most of 12 was nice too. Bad spot was through Pats Polaris and a 1/2 mile to the west. After that, 12 was fast and fun facing cars on the road. 137 to Ontonagen was super too.
Left Ontonagon on 137 headed towards Bergland, made it 20 miles and turned around as a lot of snirt and melting from yesterday was present.
Headed back on 137 to 12 to 3 North and stopped at Parkview for Philly. All trails had been groomed and as good as possible. 3 in all directions may have been the best condition of the season as low traffic has been awesome.
3 back to Super 8 and 3 was fantastic all the way, canal was sweet too.
850 is finally broke In with 565 miles, can't wait til next winter.

1fujifilm, it sounds as if we got out of dodge just in time. We would have stayed 1 more day, but Wed got pretty sloppy down on the Rockland/Greenland/Rousseau end too. Sun exposed areas taking a hard hit as the sun creeps further north everyday. But, don't throw in the towel yet, half of March left to go!!!!!!!

I think the riding is starting to become limited in both areas due to access to good snow/trail condition areas??? All road trails cooked!!! Crap shoot on where to go??? Cold again now is good, but they need "new" snow for sure. Received the most "new" snow this past week east of Marq. But very limited areas again. Good luck, and don't throw in the towel. Last half of March still left!!!

Yeah, I was blessed to ride Thursday with a high of 20. The first thing I did when I got back to Green Bay was take my winter coats, boots and helmet to the basement.
The sled is in the backyard right now melting the ice from the under chassis.

Today, muscle cars and motorcycles are out and I am about to join them.

Today's report, sad to end the season with such nice conditions.
Houghton on trail 3 north 15 miles was icy with little new snow so I turned around and went south chasing new snow and I found it (see report on snowfall page).
Rode south out of Houghton on trail 3 to trail 121 and it was outstanding from there to Mass City as there was generally 6 new inches new snow.
I turned off on 109 and this was by far a perfect trail for the 40 miles I rode it r/t from trail 3.
Next hopped on trail 12 towards Rousseau bar but had to turn back due to road trails that had no base.
From here, rode to Pats shop and ran into the base problem again as I tried to head to Ontanogen. Oh well, turned back and took 3 north to Parkiew for Philly beef, yum. I was only sledder in bar, boy that is weird. Shelley was tending and provided super service.
Back on trail 3 north and a left turn on 121 to 120 to complete the Freda loop then back to Houghton and load up.
Been a decent season, 5 trips up and 2,900 miles total on 2 sleds.

See yall next winter, Bear
