Anybody got a report on trail conditions around the Caledonia/Alba/Preston areas?? Looking to ride down from "da cities" and spend sometime down there.

I rode this past Friday after work from Lewiston, to Altura, to Elba, then onto Utica back to Lewiston. Overall I was very impressed for the state of the trails. They have been packing and grooming quite a bit from what I hear. The route I mentioned is mostly field riding, so there is a lot of drifting snow that keeps the trails good. From the other riders I have spoke to, I would stay north of I90. I heard up to Dover, and Plainview is also good.

GTL, did you get out and ride the trails south of Hastings this weekend? All fresh groomed Thursday night/Friday, and were pretty good!

xcr440---------yes we rode Sat. a little! Put on 150 miles last Wed. and I thought they were great considering the snowfall we've had. Rode from Miesville down thru Lake City and made a lap thru Zumbrota to Dennison and then back. We are doing it again Wed. morning but going to go towards Caledonia area and spend the night, then up thru Rochester area back home.

I'm going out tomorrow afternoon to check trail conditions. I heard they are decent and we groomed but do not have firsthand knowledge because I was in the UP last week riding. I will report back tomorrow about Red Wing, Frontenec and Goodhue areas.

We shot down to medelia mn bout 25 min south of Mankato on 60 parked behind what looked like a nice motel gas and trail right there we rode quick 100 miles was plenty of snow just windy do a lot of blowing quite a few ditch trails but some of the trail runs the river bottom all in all a good break in trip nice to see the southern county's getting some use of there groomers too and people riding the trails we work hard to keep in and not even able to ride some years

I would stay away from caledonia area. They received rain the week that most of us had snow.Talked with a guy that hauled his from caledonia to winona to ride because conditions bad.also the lakecity to millville area is vary thin in the valleys.stick to the trails in the open much better.rode elgin, dover, stewartville, spring valley area saturday and nice conditions.

Little snow last night to whiten things up!There's some really nice riding in the area right now.Headed out friday for a nice ride!

Trails in and around caledonia are CLOSED! More dirt than snow. Don't listen to what the guy at the Iraqi inn tells you!! I live in Caledonia and a member of the Sno Gophers club. That bastard at the hotel keeps telling people its good and it is pissing off the land owners!! Trails are closed until we get more snow!!

Yep same thing I'm hearing caledonia area bad.Hard to believe 40 or so miles west and things are great.May be a thin spot here and there but easily put 150 miles on in a day and have nice riding.

I'm off work tomorrow so I will let you know about my area in the afternoon. We need this storm very bad in the Midwest so it will open up more riding areas. I have my fingers crossed!!

Slimcake-------------Thank You for reinforcing my opinion of the P.O.S. that runs that sh***thole hotel. We rode down there thru some of that snirt only because we knew that there was a hotel to stay in when we got there. I can't understand why they are still open! The pool was cold, the whirlpool (not hot-tub) was warm at best and then in the morning nobody was there. NOBODY so no breakfast, no coffee, no receipt. I am peed-off and will tell everyone to avoid that place. I love the area and a decent job on the trails. My two cents worth would be to better mark the intersections. Maybe co-ordinate numbers on the map?
