I was staying at a place up north last weekend and the 2nd day I was there I was driving along and stoped at a interesction and hit the killl switch to check my directions and I heard a small backfire and didnt think much of it. I started up the next trail and made it about 3/4 of a mile and all **** broke loose. No Power would only go 20 MPH downhill and was backfiring real bad. I was afraid to stop so kept it floored for the next 7/8 minutes or a couple of miles with it backfiring real bad a belching black smoke.

At first I thought I might have burnt a piston and didnt want to stop and loose my momentun so i pushed on.

To my suprise upon opening the hood both of my plug wires were just sitting on top of the plugs and when I pluged them back in it ran fine.

My question is do you think I did any harm to the motor pushing it along running like crap. And how in the heck did the wires come off like that it has never happended before or was someone screwing around with my sled?

2002 Polaris Supersport 550 Fan

PS On my motor the plug boot has a extra rubber plug that afits into the fan housing and that was loose also.

Thanks

I have pushed plenty of Polaris along running like crap. Alot of vibration inside there and it could be the boots are worn and not holding. Check you plug tips are tight too.
