Spark plugs failing on a 2004 Outlander

I have a 2004 400 Outlander Max xt that will be running just fine, shut it off and go to start it again and it will not start. I replace the plug and it fires right up. The plug looks a little black but it does not look really fouled. Outside Temp and choke/no choke does not seem to matter.

The voltage regulator has been updated with new dual plug harness.

Any thoughts/experience/suggestions would be appreciated.

could the carb. be leaking internally... when you shut it down the carb could be dripping fuel into the manifold, thus flooding it out, i don't know if it has a float or not, but could have dirt or sludge in it- the needle and seat, float level...just a thought!!!

Wilson thanks for the input! A dealer thought it might be the same thing that the needle and seat are slowly leaking and flooding it out. I appreciate your input...

check the fuel lines coming off the front side of carb
they may be rotted and leaking but you wont smell it
dont take much and they will start hard

Some of these high compression motors will put a glaze on the plugs and cause them not to spark. I had a couple RX-1 sleds that did this as well as a polaris.

Hunt around for new design plugs that are less prone to glaze over. Once the motor gets some miles on it, this will likely go away. But I believe champion designed a better plug to prevent his glazing over issue. Some dealers will know about this too, and advise you as to the correct plug to buy.
