I have a 2001 Polaris 500 liquid cooled sled, well I ran it yesterday to work and back and noticed a slight bog issue/running rough and that's when I remembered I hadn't changed plugs after fogging it last spring. So, when I got home I went to change out the plugs and they both came out easily but when I went to put one back in it won't go in straight and it looks like the first 3 threads are chewed up pretty good. I tried a couple different new plugs but none will go in right and if they do start they stop halfway as they feel really tight. So the question is what do I do? It's an aluminum head. Thanks all!!

The best way would be to remove the head and run a tap, or old plug, up thru the threads from the bottom side. If you can't do that, you would have to try and run a tap from the top. Making sure not to crossthread the existing threads, and not getting shavings into the cylinder (almost impossible).

there are "backtaps" out there now. put in hole and expand tool with grease on it and back it out, all shavings will come out w/ tool!

we have bought them from snap on and mac, but I'm sure I've seen them aftermarket = cheaper. they do work well. if I find link I will post.
