Spooner area

My brother is riding today (February 16th) and just sent me this photo taken between Spooner and Long Lake 1 hour ago. He said trails are great, road crossings are thin but expected. Spooner.jpg

just to the west of spooner does have some snirty spots , don't be fooled it all isn't that nice

I didn't say this was everywhere. This is clearly in the middle of the woods, protected from direct sunlight. It is not rocket science exposed areas will be snirty and not perfect. I felt I didn't need to state the obvious. If it is too bad for your likings, leave the sleds in the trailer and go support the local businesses. They have taken a hit the last few years.

Anyone going to be riding out of the Spooner area next week? Thinking about going up but no one to go with. Friends have all given up the sport.

Rode Spooner up to Cable, came through Stone City coming back. Trails right around Spooner were very nice, but farther northeast we went the worse it got. Lake view Lodge back to Spooner were lots of bare spots. Little or no snow on a lot of the road running, lot of dirt throughout. Hope they get the snow in the forecast for ya.

Didn't ride through Spooner specifically, but from New Richmond through Turtle Lake, Birchwood (This area is TOAST through town) and Couderay across the Chippewa Flowage to Moose Lake and circle down through Winter back to New Richmond. Its definitely late season riding already with many really good trails, and a fair amount of corners used up, and some outright grinding for a short spurts. 4-6" would set everything back up nicely, but who knows on that. With sun and low 30's, its going to be a "get out and ride while you can" situation, and not expect perfect trails on the weekends.

The Flowage itself is actually pretty good (Just be careful out there with the pressure ridges, someone had to be air lifted off Hwy B east of Hayward on Saturday)

More snow and better trail conditions off the beaten path, away from the highly traveled areas. May be stating the obvious, but that's the situation.
