Spring Order/Snow Check Opinions Requested

I've been checking out the 2011 Ski-Doos and like the looks of the Spring Order X packages. Just wondeing if anyone has opinions regarding the pros and cons of ordering a new sled in the Spring vs. waiting until the Fall. Prices, availability, etc. Thanks!

Bought a spring order sled a few years ago -- I'd do it again in a heart beat with the special extra goodies and having the sled in August.

The spring order is a really good deal. If you know you are getting a new sled spring order it and save. Usually all the extras in spring save you close to 800 vs winter.

Stealthv you got a spring order sled in August? I was luck by Thanksgiving.

I like to wait till last week of Feb or first week of March to buy a sled. Prices come way down to where they are somewhat reasonable, and you can still get a few trips on them.

I think you'll pay extra if you snow check vs buying later. Example - if you buy a 2010 right now that's still sitting on the dealer's floor, I think you're going to pay way less than the snow check price. BUT on the otherhand you don't get all the extras and goodies that snow check usually offers. I would personally rather pay less and buy a 2010 sled in February 2011, but thats just me.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback. I agree that a 2010 sled on the floor will sell for less than a spring order 2011. If there was a sled available that I wanted, I may buy the 2010, but in my case, the sled I want wasn't available in 2010 (Renegade Backcountry with the 800 E-TEC).

Wait a year save big bucks buy a non current 800etek plus you will know a year later if the engine had problems. Lots of Poo 800 CFI riders are questioning first year 800 purchase. Poo 800 engines scare the he** out of me. 800 etek needs some time too to know for sure. But if you are a 1st year buyer go for it.

And if the 2011 Rene-X BC is half the sled the Doo fans think it is, there won't be any sitting at a dealer come this time next year.

It's only money and it's no good unless you spend it on something you enjoy.

Spring order and experience the anticipation of waiting 6+ months for the sled. It's quite fun - really.

What are peoples initial thoughts of the 2011 Polaris RMK 800R? Dry weight 431 lbs.

I have always ordered in March for trades. With the sled companies not building as many sleds now as they depend on the dealers orders, if you don't Spring order you may not get the model and options you want.

The main reason I order now is because it allows my dealer all summer to find someone to buy my trade in. Normally the same person buys my trade each year. Since he is able to sell it early, he gives better deals.

Sorry, not going to hijack misty's thread.

Have you put the $500 down on the Rene yet? =)

Thanks, Stealthv, for keeping the thread on subject :)

Haven't put the $500 down yet, but will start looking next week (wife willing!).

Thanks for all the other replies also.
