Springs

I been riding sleds as of this upcoming season for 44 years, can anybody tell me why somebody at these big sled manufactures has not come up with a better way to hold the exhaust on besides springs. It used to be you had a couple springs holding the pipe to the manifold and a couple springs holding the pipe/muffler combo to the sled, because it was all one piece. Then came two piece pipes and mufflers with more springs holding them together, then multiple pipes with more springs, now we are back to the single pipe with 4 springs holding it to the manifold at least 2 springs holding it to the muffler and at least 4 springs holding the muffler to the sled. I have at least 3 different spring pullers, needle nose vise grips, and about every other kind of homemade contraption to hook these springs, because it keeps getting harder as everything is packed in tighter and tighter. Sorry for ranting but I'm missing skin on just about every knuckle from hooking springs tonight because you can't get to them with gloves on, I know you feel my pain.

Try a boot lace or long piece of weed eater string,,you will be surprised how well it works,,no more leaking red stuff from the hands and fingures.

LOL, the old Yamaha triple/triples would make me pull my hair out. I tried everything on those. I like when you get the spring on but you can't get the spring tool off.

Ya I already know about the weed eater string thats in my home made contraptions, boot laces, well I would probably end up punching myself in the face unless I went a bought a new set, as my laces have already broken and been tied in a couple spots, just wish somebody would come up with something different that works, evertime you get a different sled its a learning curve to figure out what works best to attach certain springs.

I wonder if the manufacturers have stock in mechanics gloves? I know I'm buying more of those lately.

I know why they use them Wayne I'm just thinking somebody should've come up with something better by now, and I know they use they because they are cheap, I know I'm kinda trying to cut my own throat here because I work in spring manufacturing.

Maybe a brand thing? I use a spring puller and before I got that I used small diameter rope. I've never had as much trouble as you describe.
