OK, 2001 Dodge Intrepid R/T, 3.5 liter, vin letter V. I was hoping someone might know where there is a used but running engine I could pick up. I have to call the local salvage yards yet, but maybe someone on here knows someone who knows someone, and can hook a brother up. :)

Didn't you just go through a nightmare repair on that thing a couple years ago? Seems like if you could fix that, this should be doable.

google car part.net put in what your looking for and will show you who has it. I manage a body shop and that is the web site we use to buy our used parts which insurance companies like to use. might be cheaper to buy a whole car hit in the rear and use the frt end parts. Check that option also. If ya need more help let me know ill be glad to help ya. Has to be in a week im going to my camp for two weeks.

Timing belt let go, which caused a backfire, which blew a hole in the intake manifold. :)

Thanks, I was checking that out yesterday, I've gotten lots of info from dodgeintrepid.net also. Got to love the internet!

Ebay. No joke, I bought an engine/tranny setup there and had it shipped when I blew my engine on an old car a while back.

I've been checking out ebay also, there is one in Ohio right now for $850, plus shipping. Not positive that is the route we are going, still discussing our options right now.

Hey Tyler....

You gunna spend THAT much on that gas guzzler?

I had a guy fix a spin bearing once by tappin out the old with a new one and then gluing the bearing in place.....it lasted 6 more years. Course it depends on if you had your foot to the floor or not when she went...eh?

Stop being a cheese head and just go out there and buy something else.....how's this economy supposed to pick up if you keep replacing junk with more junk?

1. Define gas guzzler, I average 27-28 mpg with it.
2. If I could afford to buy something else, would I be asking where I can locate another engine?
3. Who is Tyler?

I would get rid of it as soon as you fix it from what i have heard those engines are notorious
for spinning bearings and rods.Oil circulation or condensation problem from what i have been told Father in law had one motor went at 65000 brother in law same problem.

196,000 miles on it, I think that is pretty good.

That is pretty good you either take real good care of it or its one of the few that did not have the problem.

I think maybe you are thinking of the 2.7 V6? That was not a very good motor. My 97 Concorde that had the 3.5 had 215,000 on it when I sold it. My wife's 2000 300M with the 3.5 now has 124,000 on it, running good. And a buddy of mine has an 02 Concorde that has the 3.5, 216,000 on it and climbing.
