WOW! Someone had the balls to write the TRUTH at that paper for once!! Bravo!!

And to the point of the 57% of millennials are scared they are going to die from this is SPOT ON. I had three meetings yesterday and that age group is totally enveloped in FEAR over this thing.

Strategy of the unknown is impossible. Guesstimates is all we have to begin with. Polio in the 50's. Patience and true understanding will win out and hard to put the blame on anyone at this time. I’m one of those in the high risk population but I’m not afraid of death, it’s the contagiousness that is a concern. If I’m a carrier but have no symptoms, I don’t want to infect anyone. If you are a carrier with no symptoms, I hope you don’t want to infect anyone. This will play it’s course and we will return to normal. Stay safe and well everyone.

I would bet money that wirev and Snobuilder and myself and just about all "essential" work force people have been exposed already. I am quite sure I had "it" back in February. As do a bunch of local residents here. There is still no antibody test so nobody can say for sure. One of the only things the "smart" people can agree on is that this thing can have a two week incubation period. Which is bad because a person can unknowingly infect others. I don't want to be the one to infect a 90 year old resident of my little town that I have known all my life. On the flip side the two week incubation period is good. Many more people have been exposed to the virus than anyone can ever know because there is no test for antibodies. The rates of infections and deaths are dropping fast in former hotspots like New York and New Orleans. It is not because of social distancing or really smart politicians or better medical care. They have reached herd immunity.

Also the whole frenzy over ventilator availability was completely unfounded. If it gets to the point where you need a ventilator you will probably die just like the 80percent who already have. Again, anybody with symptoms should have their O2 levels monitored closely. You can't buy a pulse oximeter anymore but it is a simple test that they give you every time you seek medical care. It is the lack of O2 that will get you. You kind of need O2.

Good article. I'm not familiar with that paper or the writer but it's what many of us here on JD and in my circle of friends, family and co-workers think as well.

The thing that bother's me the most, and the writer brought this up too are the people who are so indifferent to what is actually going on. So many middle of the road, let's just see what happens, there's truth on both sides, blah blah blah. Truth and facts are what matters even if your feelings get hurt because you were wrong. I really believe half of this country would be willing to just do whatever the government tells them to do even if they (politicians) are clearly violating the constitution by overextending their authority.

I put this on my FB.
A corporation, company, business, store, shop has policies to go by. If it includes wearing a mask, then to do business with them, you have to wear a mask. These idiots protesting and threatening to sue if they cannot enter an establishment need to be corralled. If you don’t like the policy, shop/do business elsewhere. Many have policies of “No shoes, No shirt, No service.” No mask mean the same thing. A bar can refuse to serve someone they think is drunk. Most people honor those policies. “No masks” is no different. If you don’t like the policy, go elsewhere or get arrested, simple as that! Common sense.

I really don't know what good a mask is going to do. We have guys come in our store one day with mask and gloves next day with just gloves then nothing at all then just a mask... It can get in your eyes and a mask doesn't cover your eyes. If masks work then why can't we just open everything back up and go back to business as usual. The mask will protect everyone.... LOL

It also has been proved to travel on shoes. And whole wheat bread. And cocker spaniels. And refried beans. And mountain bike wheel spokes. It is especially bad during full moons and times of low barometric pressure. Best to stay in your house for the next 3 years and eat white bread.

That's a misunderstanding of the purpose of the mask. It does not protect you from incoming, it protects me from your outgoing. It's not to stop what I breath in, it's to stop what you breathe out.

Since you don't know if you are a carrier or not, wearing a mask renders that a moot point.

And before you bring up testing, putting a mask on after a positive test is a bit late in the process.

My mask protects you.

My mask protects you.

Thanks for caring, but I prefer to be in charge of protecting myself. Are you now going to wear a mask for the rest of your life, to "protect" everybody from anything you might be carrying? Because if you're not, wearing one now just to "protect" us from Covid is hypocritical.

Part of my job has been installing plexiglass panels at all service counters at Village Hall. They are saying that they are NOT temporary. Prepare for a world of talking to everyone through protective shields and sliding everything across counters.

Asians have been doing for decades, I know, was there 50+ years ago protecting myself, but not with a mask.
