Starting 2013 Ski doo Renegade 600 etec in extreme cold

I have a 2013 Ski doo Renegade 600 etec. Over the weekend on a trip north it was exposed to -10 to -15 degree temps overnight. Two different days it would not start. This surely can't be normal. First, I don't think that temp is extreme enough for a sled not to start. Second, other sleds in the same conditons had no problem starting. Lastly, sleds are built to encounter much more extreme conditions. Dealer doesn't know why it won't start in that type of weather? Something just doesn't seem right to me. After put in the garage, it starts just fine. Any thoughts?

Battery? Next time it doesn't start hook a jumper pack to it. A fuel injected sled needs x amount of voltage to function. Cool weather and a slightly weak battery might be just enough to = a no start

Yep, I did hook a battery pack to it and still wouldn't start. Dealer said hold throttle open. It started after holding throtle open. Should I really have to use an alternative starting method with a new sled? Seems to me that something isn't right and needs fixed/adjusted.

i would think there is some thing not just right .my etec you just bump the start button and its running and we have had some 20 plus below days with no problem .check on dootalk .after you weed past all the crap on there you can sometimes find some helpful stuff .

I have an etec outboard just turn key to start if stalls records a failure of some sort in chip. Try again & starts right up never ever advance throttle can go into winterize mode if you screw around too much & push the right controls. Not sure if sleds record all the faults but outboards knows everything & I mean everything that you are doing with the engine. No BSing that chip.lol

What kind of fuel are you running? If you run non ethanol you need to put isopropyl in the gas or it can freeze the fuel system.

I've also heard of the fuel pickups being clogged and needing replaced. I just had to change my polaris because it was running terrible and worse when it was cold.

my old 08 wouldn't start sometimes and i think it was cuzz i had water in the line and it froze. next time it happens throw a little isopropyl in it pull the cord 5 times and it should start if that's the reason.

When it was really cold out, it it would start if I held the throttle open (which is what dealer told me to try). It will start normal if its not extreme cold out. Just wondering what would cause that...I shouldn't have to use an alternative method on a new sled. It shouldn't be an issue with the fuel freezing, because it does start holding throttle.

I understand what you are saying but the injectors need to atomize the fuel into the cylinders and if they are dripping or squirting fuel the motor would need more air to fire(opening throtle). This condition would happen with frozen moisture cloging the injectors. With the super cold temps we have had this year condensation is a problem with gas comming out of warm tanks in the ground.

Also it doesn't matter at all if it's a new sled. Bad gas will cause your symptoms. Simple just remove gas, thaw machine, and put new in it. That's the simplest way to start.
