Stator Replacement, need to do it , help!

Earlier this week I posted a thread asking how to tell if the stator was bad. Well the dealership did confirm that it is bad.

They said the part was 256.00 and labor was 400.00 before tax. I can do the labor peice but he said something about timing the sled. My questions are;

1) has anyone changed a stator on a SKi Doo 800 HO and can you give me any tips?

2) how do I time (as the dealership put it) the sled?

Thanks Dan

The stator just bolts on behind the flywheel. The holes are not slotted. The pick up coil is also bolted on (outside the flywheel), and I don't believe is adjustable, so you really cant alter the timing. I don't know what the dealer was talking about. Just make sure it all goes back together the way it came apart.

Pick up the shop manual for your sled. It will make you more confident in doing this repair and many have diagrams and part explosions.

10-4 on the shop manual!

Had to replace a lifter in my 4-stroke, was kinda nervous, never did it before on a snowmobile. Got the Shop Manual and the confidence rating shot from I think I can to I know I can.
