Sticky recoil

I have a 06 Firecat that has a sticky recoil, some times I pull the rope and it stays out (so I give it a couple little tugs and it goes back in). But one of these times it's not going to go back in and I can bet I'll be a long ways from home.

So can I just remove the recoil assembly (looks like 3 or 4, 1/4" bolts) and just clean it up inside or is there more to it?

Definetly needs to be cleaned, should not be that difficult babbitsonline.com parts snowmobile make model may show a detail of your recoil unit. You can use this to take apart and clean and reassemble.
