Stud length?

I'm looking to stud my 2015 Polaris Indy. It has a 1.35" Cobra track. What length studs should I be getting? What brands do you recommend. I know Studboy and Woodys are top brands. Does it pay to spend the extra money on them?

General rules of thumb. 1) Use studs that are 3/8 taller than the lug of the track. Which puts you at about a 1.55. 2) 1 stud per horsepower. 3) If you are riding off trail or in other powder most of the time don't waste your time and money. Studs are for packed trails or icy lake surfaces. 4) stay away from the outside track bands for maximum track life. 5) make sure you have the proper clearance in the front of the tunnel so you don't wreck your heat exchanger. Alos you might need tunnel protectors. I have always used Woody's with good results. Some folks say that Studboys have a shallower hex hole on top of the stud that makes it more difficult to tighten the stud nut. Also I never use a torque wrench to tighten the studs. I get them as tight as possible and use blue locktight. Have never had problems. I like studs just for forward traction and more importantly braking. These new snow toys get going fast in a hurry and sometimes a person gets a little carried away. So it is nice when you actually slow down when you hit the brakes rather than skid. There are many on this site that have not had good luck with studs and will never use them again. Studs do have their drawbacks. But they do help a lot in certain circumstances.

The Cobra 1.352" track is really just a 1.25" track with small raised dimples on the lug. I have the same track on my Polaris and have been running woody's 1.352" gold diggers with great results. I have 144 on my 600 XCR in the middle using double backers and singles, my wife's sled which is a Indy 600 Is studded with 96 in the middle with double backers.
Like grub suggested tighten them as tight as possible but I use red loctite. I have 4 sleds with over 10,000 miles with the same studs and tracks.

Yes - RED locktight. Brainfart.
