I have 5000 miles on my sled and plan on riding it for 5000 more. I want to freshing it up but don't know how far I should go on the motor rebuild. Any suggestions?

Whats your compression at in both cylinders? Have you checked it lately? 5000 miles isn't too bad, any problems along with those miles?

Check compression, if its good leave it. IMO I would rather be looking at the intake boots. They seem to be somewhat of a problem on the cfi sleds. One of mine came apart at 2400 miles and took the motor with it. I now have 5400 miles and am gonna run it til she blows, or til Polaris builds a decent 800.

I would just check the EV bellows (prone to forming holes) and compression, if your good to go, dont mess with it. If compression is down, however, maybe its time for a quick cylinder hone and some new rings.

Never had any trouble with sled, well primary clutch spring broke. Haven't checked compression yet, that would be good place to start. Had PV's rebuilt 500 miles ago (bellows & springs were shot). I will check compression and go from there. Dealer told me he could do a pressure check on motor to check seals, ect. I would like to do something before crankcase is full of crap after motor blows. I like to do preventive maintenance instead of having major problems.
I have heard that some had problems with rings spinning on this motor and there was updated pistons for it. Any 07 D7 owners want to chime in?

Checked compression 130 & 129

I was glad to see the compression high and close to the same. I now just need to rebuild shocks, check boots and put new 1.500" track on and I will be ready for next year.
