Swamps freezing up???

Just checked John's longshot forecast for next week. Are the rivers and lakes and swamps freezing up in NW Wisc yet? If it snows a foot it could be game on if it stays cold.

I haven’t heard any opener dates in WI even if we had 2 feet of snow. Usually there are safety inspections and that activity doesn’t happen until all gun deer hunting seasons are over. So I keep pulling for snow and cold but don’t expect trail opener until second week of December. Early birds can ride in the UP always enough snow there somewhere for break ins or just the need to scratch the itch.

The wildcard forecast is gone as of this morning. That's not all bad, let things freeze up some more.

I know some locals that have been out ice fishing on the Chetek Chain of lakes already. They are obviously insane but they were out there.

I was hunting up north west of Minocqua for the past couple of weeks. Things froze up really fast while I was up. The lake went from open water to being froze over with about 4". I tracked a deer through some swamps. There was about 5' of snow so the swamps that had snow on them had water under the snow. The deeper swamps had an inch or two of ice.
We are off to a good start. We also have a long way to go.

What's up bear. I'm in little chute. Was at my cabin on legend lake ice fishing yesterday a good 3-4" of ice. I usually ride out of langlade. Been a couple years since I could ride freedom.

Hey bear...you should ride with us from Freedom up to Minocqua if we can get some snow around here. I haven't been able to do that the past couple of years, but I think this is the year!

I'd love to, trail/snow permitting.
I have done the ride up to Eagle River, WI from home a few times six years ago or so.

Yes.
Still waiting for snow in Green Bay. Had a nice hard frost in the ground but lost it over the weekend with the rain and 55 degree temps.
Back to the drawing board I guess.
