Tech Help on 06 600 HO Fusion

While riding at a high RPM (7400ish) the belt blew and the engine shut off--(I assume their is some type of rev limiter which shuts the engine down)...Now the engine runs but doesn't sound quite right? BUT, after checking the compression BOTH cylinders show 100PSI (120 should be normal correct?)...My question is what would you think would be the issue since both pistons DO NOT have holes or seem damaged at all--We checked with a camera inspection device (very tiny and thorough) so we are certain that there are no holes. I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions of what I should consider doing next--

Thanks for your help...

Try another comp. guage to be sure. Check the engine area real good, belt parts can damage intake boots, knock exhaust springs off and dislocate pipes. Also check the motor mounts, it may have broken one under the sudden loss of strain from the belt. If the comp. #'s are still low, remove the head and inspect the cyl walls. Or you could pull the pipe and look at the pistons through the y-pipe to see if they are damaged. If so, time for new pistons. Pretty rare for both to go out at the same time though. CHeck the power valves for proper operation too. (clean and moving properly)

Appreciate the feedback--We did use two different guages...Both times about 100 PSI...The sled runs and will go maybe 55 MPH...I have digitron guages and the exhaust temps seem to be normal in each cylinder...Very odd that this sled can be drivin but something is clearly off--

Appreciate the advice...

100 psi is low for that engine. Pull exhaust and exhaust Y pipe off and look at the rings and piston skirts. you may have broken rings or scuffed piston skirts. While you're there, pull the exhaust valves out and check them for proper operation. Exhaust valves not opening would prevent engine from reaching top end.

Is there any chance that the belt that blew, really blew? So much that it may have fragmented enough that some of the belt fragments ended up in the airbox and then thru the carbs? You might want to check the airbox for belt fragements, and if so, pull the carbs off and look at your reeds. Hopefully this isn't the case, but if so, you've got much bigger problems.

Tweeked crank caused by excessive revving upon belt breakage? Happened to me on an AC many years ago.
