For not shooting the messenger in this mornings forecast! I know how much of a bummer it must have been for all of you, because I had to write it! Just keep in mind that things would not have to change dramatically in the pattern for some meaningful snows to fall in the Northwoods. We have been in this boat before and while it is no fun at all, we will all make it through.

I know I am as bummed about the weather as anyone, but am also taking stock in the things I have to be thankful for, like not laying in a hospital bed with tubes running out of me, or anyone in my family. I'm also able to put food on our table and keep a roof over our heads and heat inside. That may seem like corny things to be thankful for, but there are those that are struggling with even those most basic of needs.

So... Hang in there everyone. Hopefully it won't be long before I get to start using the hot pink and even yellow in my forecasts!

Remember...It wasn't over then the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ... and it's not over NOW!

i look at it this way. If most of the local areas do not get system snow and the LES falls, business may be great this winter for the UP. It's a catch 22 for me, but there may be a silver lining in all of this.

All I have is a nerf cannon - don't think it would be very scary.

Yes, the natives are restless this time of year and I'm a little disappointed myself that the northern MN outlook for the next two weeks or so isn't better. But, as you said, I guess one has to put it in perspective. After all, a windshift and a drop in temps could put the U.P. in the pink in a hurry.

On another note I too have alot to be thankful for when I was 33 my wife and I had our third child and during delivery I almost lost them both. The spent the following week in milwaukee in the childrens hospital. Then the same day we can home I went to work and in the middle of cutting down a tree everything went black make a long story short not alone the tree almost killing me I was having a mild heart attack! Then I spent a few days in the icu myself after that my new baby wife and I are ok.Then a 1 1/2 years later it happened to me again. My doctor said it's the stress that's killing me.That's when I decided it's time to change something. So my wife and I decided to move to the U.P. alot of people thought I was nuts but I didn't care.Yes I don't make the money I used too but it's all worth it because

It will be fine, winter is just starting and we need to think positive. Our trip to Krupps is in 33 more days.. Its gonna get hammered up there and if it dont, then it will still be ok. Like John said health is very important, if you dont have that then you cant have much else...So make sure you patronize the businesses that really need our support as this is impacting them to a great degree right now........Pray for snow

Its not hard to tell on a snowmobile/snow enthusiasts site things aren't going well so far!

Anyone in the Twin Cities could be reminded we had an 18" dumper this past weekend last year, but that's not going to make us happy this year!

I'm sure the LES will come, and I just may have to travel to get a riding weekend in if things don't change in the next month or so......

It's ok John, we just have to be patient this year. I'm already preparing myself for bad news if New Years isn't looking good. Its a ways off but I'd rather be prepared ahead of time mentally. Nothing is worse than hearing of tons of snow and good ridin and then it's time for your trip and BAM, a big warmup. There will be snow eventually and we'll come up. Like others have mentioned, I feel bad for the businesses... as if things weren't bad enough. With the lack of snow it doesn't even feel like Christmas time.
