The Big 1 Coming?

I’m getting phone calls from my snowplow contractor that Vilas and UP is in the target for 3
storms and 20 plus inches of snow Thursday thru Saturday. The big one hitting Friday night thru Saturday. My contractor needs to line up his resources since contracts run out March 31 each season. I told him I’m in for snowplowing can’t get thru 20 inches of heavy wet snow. Anybody else seeing a forecast of 20 inches plus for northern WI and the WUP for this weekend?

I haven't seen those numbers, but, it does in fact look as though we are in for something to happen here. So far what I have seen is 12"+, but, anything can happen at this point. In as much as I really don't want to see that happen, I would prefer the lesser of 2 evils at this point, that being snow vs. rain. We still have 20 to 30" solid on the ground right now, we don't need flooding. Only time will tell.-Mezz

Go to the ask John section. Your question will be answered there.

Mother nature continues to be a be-atch, what's the point anymore this year, just a hinder to those who look forward to spring, or rely on it for seasonal business, not to mention flooding potential when the thaw does come because it will probably all happen at once. Just been the roller coaster of temps and a serious lack of precip down here in se Wisconsin, if its going to be spring be spring. She just cant make up her mind this year and I for one wished she would.

It all has to thaw soon too so I started moving piles to aid in eventual drainage. We still have a foot plus on the ground and big drifts as well so floods seem probable. Ice out on average is mid April no way this year ice out will be well into May. This is bad for all the Spring and Summer biz that wants to get going plus road repairs can’t even think about repairs yet and lots of holes everywhere.

Last track I saw was weird as heck goes south around Chicago then straight north and a little west before heading northeast. If this happens NE Wi and Mi will get a big dump! Im starting to think Vilas maybe spared an extreme Spring dumping which we don’t need.

euphoric1...go to earth out by 2 seasons for answer to spring outta be spring...and whitedust you do the same and then you'll realize that road repairs will happen...they just wont be happening when they used to anymore....the sooner we all accept it the sooner the confusion will stop...again.....GAS EM UP BABAY

I saw that reference to going south too. Anyway, it's going to depend on temps. Don't want the rain but also don't want the snow since we can't play in it.
And my boss didn't take my suggestions much this year! Rev

Locals down to 3 to 5 inches for Vilas claim dry air will limit snow amounts. HUGE BUST but I don’t care we need Spring and to start melting lake ice. Ice out way behind thinking May some time.

I am hearing 1 to 2 feet in UP and maybe a foot in Vilas. Maybe John will chime in on his thoughts.
