The Flip

John,
I have read alot of your articles and you have referred to the "flip" of the fall/winter weather being historically valuable to a possible good snow season. Here in the lower penninsula, the temp has really switched from a couple weeks ago (70's to 40's).
Is this the "flip" you have referred to and, from a timing standpoint, is this to early or historically good.
Appreciate all your comments.

There has certainly been a change in the pattern in the last few weeks. The blocking pattern that kept establishing itself in the western Atlantic and brought the Midwest the mild and dry weather has been replaced with a more progressive one (storms allowed to move west to east in a more natural fashion).

With that said, I am going to stop short of saying that the flip has taken place. In my opinion I think we are in more of a transitional state right now, with the more dominate pattern to occur for the winter not yet in place.
