Alright! another season begins, finally... The colleges kicked off last weekend with Wisconny stompin the daylights out of Utah State. The NFL season begins on Sunday (actually Thursday night is the first game between KC & New England). And how old is Tom Brady anyway? Hint: Jimmy Carter was just elected president when Tom was born. To put it another way, Tom Brady is old enough to be a father of the current rookie class, think about that for awhile.
My wife of many seasons accepts her status as a Football Widow for the next 6 months. Me, in the recliner in front of the big screen and she, curled up with a book in another part of the house. Hey, it works for us and why mess with a good thing. (Happy Wife/Happy Life) And if it snows and is cold after the Superbowl...well you know...we'll just have to go snowmobiling.
Since most of us on John Dee live in the upper midwest with a nod to Arizona and Pennsylvania, many of us are dialed in to the NFC North and the Big Ten (or Big 12...I forget how many teams are in the Big 10 nowadays) I like Wisconsin's chances to win the west, Iowa and Nebraska are always close games. Minnesota, gosh when was the last time you won the Ax? It's been awhile, maybe this year. The Badgers play Michigan in November and win or lose it's always fun to watch Jim Harbaugh go nuts on the sideline. (throw his hat & kick at imaginery things in the air) that's a highlight reel right there in itself. By Thanksgiving I can see Wisconsin with a record of 9-3 for the season and playing on New Years Day.
As for the Packers, the offense could be scary good providing they keep everyone healthy, especially Rodgers. Bulaga already has a bad wheel, we'll see where that goes. They've pulled a lot of resources in on defense with high draft choices for years now. Add some fine Free Agents recently and the D could be much improved over last year. We should note that the Pack's schedule for the first seven games is brutal followed by the Bye in week eight. I would expect the Pack to win most but still manage a couple of clunkers as they usually do sometime during the season. By New Years I predict the Packers to be in first place followed closely by Detroit, Minnesota (the Vikings not the Gophers) and Chicago.
So, those are my thoughts. It's quite possible this thread will continue throughout the season and if so we look forward to hearing the thoughts of other members on John Dee. It's time for some football...Enjoy the journey!
