Yesterday when I checked the satellite imagery to see the amount of ice in the lake, it looked like around 96-98%, the most so far this season. Almost no ice-free water.
Yet we picked up around an inch or so of system snow before 7 am this morning, then some big old fluffy LES flakes started falling and so far we are at around 3" new since 7 am. Sort of a weak Bayfield Bomber. It is very light and fluffy, but still cool (and a bit amazing) to be getting LES with so much ice in the lake. Looks like the winds are already starting to erode the ice on the western end a bit today and with quite a bit of wind and no more bitter cold, we might open her up even more in the next 4-5 days.
