the weather channel

just thought I'd mention this as I get people calling wondering what the temps are. Right now the outside temp is 36 but the weather channel online for 49929 says 41 and it is not that right now. National weather service seems more accurate for my local. Maybe JD can chime in why or maybe even offer a better resource to get more accurate temps. I wonder if there is an official weather station for my area. It seems we get temps for Ontonagon and it's always warmer down there.

i battle this daily, any time you look at weather channel, weather bug, accue weather or underground they all have differnt temps. ive been sticking to underground and its local for mass city. it works best for me in rockland. still not perfect.

Lenny, they are likely getting their temp data from the nearest NWS site. Not sure what that would be. Could perhaps have even been Ironwood.

Here is a list of NWS MQT reporting stations. Some are coop, and some are computer automated and all dont report hourly. For current go to Regional Update. Not all stations have reported today (Tue 1/10) yet, so you may have to scroll down to previous days for a complete listing.
So anyone wondering "how much snow fell" this is the place to look for a general overview along with High/Lows.

Well there was the original "High Tech Rockland Weather Station":

We are working on it!

Did we lose the original "High Tech Rockland Weather Station"? :)
