The wicked witch of the north?? lol

I thought I'd share a story with you folks...I once...along time ago worked at the Golden Harp in Twin Lakes..place had good food, and was alot of fun to work at...met many cool sledheads from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio...but ...once in awhile..we get a city girl or two who would come in and whine about how rough the Bill Nichols was..you could see the evil in their eyes..lol I laugh now because back them Amber had a trail whiners jug..which was a big baby bottle with a huge nipple on top..if somebody was whining..we asked them to put money in the jug...some people laughed, and put money in...some people got offended and left...I remember a few years ago somebody refered to Amber as the "Wicked Witch of the north" right here on John Dee ..I told her about it, and we had a good laugh..lol I guess some people have no sense of humor...I wanted to relay this story so that maybe some of you out there recognize yourself, and realize when you walk into a business..that's its not the owners fault the trails are rough...so belling ache at them is kinda rude...Just be thankful you are riding while other people are working...I know when I was tending bar..making my extra riding money...there was no place I would have rather been, than out riding...even if the Bill Nichols had "bumps the size of volkswagons" (yes a customer once told me that..lol)..I still would have rather been riding than at work.

I hope that gives some of you a chuckle...and others..who like to whine, to maybe change ur attitude...lot of these small business people up north work their tails off to get these trails ready, and still have to run their businesses...so it's kinda a slap in the face when people come in , throw their helmet in disgust and bark at em...ya know what I mean??

That is funny. I always get a kick out of people that complain about rough trails. I don't get out as much as I would like so when I am on a rough trail I tell myself that snowmobiling on a rough trail is better than not snowmobiling at all.

There's a sign that says this somewhere I'm sure:

The worst day on the trails is better than any day at work.

Think about that when you are out there, when you are ready to complain about being out there.

There are sooooo many stories I can tell ya about the old harp...you wouldn't believe some of the stuff people have said to me...One guy was ready to kill me cause the trails were so bad...I finally told him to back off..." Do you see a drag tied to my butt"?? "Does it look like I am grooming trails right now"??..lol He finally calmed down..but then I saw what his real problem was...HIS WIFE...You tell she was a snobby, high maintnance type...she was in a foul mood ("cause that trail sucked, get our sticker money back honey")
I actually felt sorry for the guy after meeting her..lol..I bought him a shot, when she went to the bathroom.

Which brings me to another point...sometimes you should leave the women home (Don't get mad at me ladies..you know a few of your sisters SHOULD NOT RIDE>>EVER)..If you have a good snowmobiling woman who loves to ride...good for you...but leave the mall type/shopaholic/eye candy types home...please...they tend to make life miserable for everybody around them..snowmobile trails can be bumpy...snowmobiles are made to go over bumps...just the way it is..lol

Yeah, I rode with the wife about 4-5 years in a row in da UP and she rarely complained about the trails. Now I ride with a couple friends and one complains all the time. I told him if he would pick his fat *** off the seat once in awhile and use his legs, it would be easier to deal with. However having a gut the size of an oil tanker doesnt help either :)
***?

Snowmobiling is a lot like sex or pizza, even when its bad, its still pretty good. My wife likes to sled almost more than me! in fact she would be mad if if she couldnt go!

I love my wife dearly and no she's not a mall rat..but she is not a sledder, and I only take her once or twice a year...."it's cold"...."It's bumpy"...made the mistake of taking her for a ride when it was 10 below last year...Let's just say I wasn't her favorite person for about a week...who knew cold weather could make girl so evil...lmao

It's nice to have a hobby that the wife doesn't like. She hasn't been on a sled in almost twenty years. It is to cold for her and to far from most casinos.

Wednesday night before New Years eve my wife and I were sitting around the kitchen table talking about the new years and how the kids were coming New Years day to do Christmas (nobody travel at Christmas because of the snow storm and road conditions so we postponed Christmas till New Years) when out of the blue she say's "Let's go for a snowmobile ride." My mouth dropped open and I said "I"m in!!!!" We took off at 9:30pm, had a nice couple hour ride. She loves to ride!

My wife loves to ride, and is a very good rider. But, she too can't stand the extreme cold for any length of time. I'd love to have her out there on the trail again.

I have been riding since I was 12. 42 now. I have never missed a snowmobile season yet. My dad and his buddies would take the boys on a trip. Then the girls. My mom and I were the only ones who really liked it. Mom would still go if she could. Out of all of us kids that went when we were younger. I am pretty much the only one who goes every year. Several times. I turned my boyfriend on to it. (now my hubby) and he has been addicted for the last 20 yrs. We have brought up several friends over the years but there is only one girl that I like riding with. 30 yrs later and still loving it!!!

Wicked Witch is actually pretty mild compared to some things I've heard her called... Harp is closed up still isn't it???

The Harp was a great friendly place and good food! Ate there many a time one winter while testing suspensions as there were the best bumps in the north american continent after a weekend of sledding around the twin lakes area!! krupp would go out and knock them all down a couple of times a week!Amber wasnt as mean as she tried to look,Hope its still open!

I tell people who complain about trail conditions that they need to join a club, get on the groomer committee, and find out what it takes to set up and maintain a trail before they complain about the bumps!!!

P.S. you won’t hear my woman complain about rough trails ;)
