This would suck...

I read this post on another site and thought I would share it with people from this site. I'm a diehard Doo guy but if this happened to me I would be p@#$ss%^ed!!! Actually I have a summit freeride snow checked with the 800 E-Tec so I'm a little nervous, but I think they will make sure to deliver on all of the Freeride's.

It read...
"Had a 2011 Renegade 800 e-Tec x Package snow checked back in March, got a call today from some lady at BRP telling me my ordered was cancelled due to supply issues with 800 ETEC motor. Called my dealer and he found out two weeks ago and I was just informed today. I was willing to give them $11,000+ on a new sled and I find out in September that I can't get it, not real happy, especially since I have my old sled sold. Can get a 800R Power-tek or 600 E-tec from my dealer in the Adrenaline, but not nearly what I wanted. Any one had same problem or know of any sleds available in 800 E-tec X pacakage available. I read about a lot of people finding 800 Etecs because of back outs, but my dealer said he lost three orders due to cancellations."

I have read about the controversy over on DT, a month ago they ( the snow check participants ) were spouting how BRP was going to make sure that all the consumers with legitimate SC'swere going to get theirs. There seems to be a bunch of dealers that filled out SC's trying to get some for their showrooms. BRP was suppose to weed those out and still deliver to the consumers only. I personally wouldn't be happy if it was me but with after seeing a 600e-tec XRS motorfail last year at 243 miles, it may be a blessing. We dragged it to the closest dealer and traded it for an 800 P tec on the spot . The 800 e-tec is still un proven to many.

Sucks to hear about your buddies 600 E-tec. I've got 1 1/2 seasons on my 600 e-tec running the crap out of it out west in the mountains and I've had zero issues. Also being a professional fisherman I've got lots of buddies running e-tec's on their boats with no issues.
I'm not saying that the 800 e-tec may not have any problems, but I bought a first year 600 e-tec that has been bullet proof. I have a 4 year warranty coming on my new 800 e-tec so if there's any issues I'm covered.

4 year warranties are fine if everything happens during the summer. I can tell you, I have lost many days of riding on snow. Not fun. It does give you an opportunity to scrutinize every sled in the showroom though.

The cancelled order is a whole other issue though. What is the point of a contract(purchase agreement) if it does not need to be honored? I honestly can not see how a manufacturer can walk away from a contract. I suspect that some dealers did not handle their spring orders correctly. I hope it works out though.

If you ordered your sled and your dealer isn't an dipsh*t then you will get your sled. BRP doesn't allow dealers to order extra spring only sleds other than what people order. A lot of dealers try to order extra ones. It floods the market. BRP was surprised on how many 800 E-tecs were ordered and have to cut back on some. So some dealers have to give up some 800 E-tecs. It is up to the dealer to give it up. I'm sure some will blame BRP to save themselves. They are lying to you! Plain and simple!! BRP asked the dealers what they can give up!
