Rode this past Saturday 1/12. Left about 11am, back about 6, so in theory the worst time of the week to ride but trails overall were very good or better. There were some icy corners, some chop, some bare spots but about 95% of my riding always encounters that. I would not hesitate to go again next weekend.
Took Alt 13 to Eagle River and that was thin out in the open. 13 from ER to Bauer's Dam, 8 west from there, club 7S past St. Germain to 15, down to Sugar Camp. All of those sections were in very good condition. 13 from Sugar Camp to 3 Lakes along the service road was bare but very good before then. Lakes are generally drifted over so slow going mostly.
Talked to someone in 3 Lakes who came from Hiles and he said the trails were good that direction as well.
I would definitely try to stay north of US Hwy 8.
