Time to Replace the Brakes

It is time for me to put new brakes on my tow vehicle which is a 2007 F150 FX4 Supercrew. What are the best rotors and pads to use? I pull my snowmobile trailer in the winter and a 30 foot travel trailer in the summer. I have heard that ceramic pads are not good for tow vehicles because they do not dissipate heat very well.

Why rotors? did you go to long between break jobs and go past the sounders? As for the pads I use the cermic on my 3/4 ton suburban with no issues.

Most new vehicles come with ceramic pads and the aftermarket touts them because they don't leave black dust on your wheels so I wouldn't be afraid of them for any vehicle. It is what I recommend to my customers at the shop I work at.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I may try the ceramic. I put them on my car and they are great. The rotors are not worn that bad but even if I could turn them they would be at the minimum thickness and they will warp due to the heat. Made that mistake before. For the price of new ones it is worth it. I have always used typical Wagner or Duralast rotors and was wondering if there is anything better that may even last longer or provide better braking. I have people telling me that I need to use slotted rotors and I am not convinced they are needed.

There are tons of options out there including slotted and crossdrilled rotors if you want to spend the money.

If it was me I would go to Auto-zone and get whatever brand they carry with a warranty and put 'em on. Only time I've ever felt like I got inferior or lesser quality stuff in terms of brakes was the last set of stuff I got at Pep Boys, never go there for anything but was in a rush so in I went. Stuff I got there seemed to wear much quicker than I expected. Don't remember the brand name though.

Try to get rotors made in the USA. The ones from CHINA are the ones that have the quality issues. NAPA stocks both so you may have to ask for them by name depending on where you go.
