I have a 2002 Grand Prix SE w 3.1L and the trac off light and ABS light keeps coming on. It will go on and off randomly. Any ideas?

I have an 04 grand prix. Those lights came on for me one weekend not long after I bought it. I whined about it being a stupid pontiac and took it to dealer. Turns out, the sensor had wiggled loose and was essentially 'unplugged'. That was it. Plugged it back in and hasn't gone on since (that was over 2 yrs ago, bought the car used obviously- bit only 35K on it at the time). Hopefully it's something minor. Although I'll still whine... really pontiac? Your quality is so poor that a sensor realted to my traction and braking just unplugs? Not much faith in the rest of the car after that. But, it's paid for and is really the 'spare', so whatever.

X2 on the wheel bearing. The ABS sensor in the hub assembly has a very tight tolerance so when the bearing starts to go the warning lights come on. I have had to replace wheel bearing in all my GM cars.

Ive had a few people tell me its the Wheel Speed Sensor. Im not sure but I think that sensor is attached to the wheel bearing...? I've replaced one wheel bearing but it looks like Ill have to do the other now.

The wheel speed sensor is part of the wheel bearing/hub assembly. All four wheels have the sensor so you might to have it scanned to see which one is bad.

Yes the wheel speed sensor is firmly affixed to the bearing. Normally when the bearing starts to go you will have noises coming from it. Do you hear any growling or grinding sounds coming from the either side?
Have you checked for codes yet? When the lights comes on the module will store a failure code.

Havent heard any noise to make me feel like the wheel bearing is going out. Im taking it in this afternoon to get it tested and see what it says.

The car should have four wheel anti lock brakes, that being said you will have sensors in the rear as well. Good luck I hope that this information is helpful :)
