Track Idler Wheels - Good or Bad

I am doing all the work on my 7 year old Doo 500's (8k miles) to get them ready for snow. When replacing the Hyfax I checked all the idler wheels. Some of them I can move back and forth about 1/8 to 3/16ths of and inch. I think this is bad. How do you determine when the bearings are shot on these? I have one that is bad for sure because I can feel that the bearings are running rough when I spin the wheel while hanging on to it. I do not want to start spitting these things out going down the trail this year. These sleds have been absolutely outstanding on reliability but things eventually wear out. If they are bad do you recommend just replacing the bearings or the entire wheel?

You can replace just the bearing, do them all with that kind of mileage. Bearings run approx 2-4 bucks each from shadetree, GOBIGPARTS.com or Hi-Performance.

Good luck!

If the bearing has a rubber seal, you can pop the seal out, clean the old grease out, an repack with new grease.
