I've been apprehensive about mentioning this but maybe a lesson can be learned. First I realize this forum is orientated to snowmobiling.
I was skiing this weekend and could have been killed. I don't wear a helmet and that is lesson # 1 you should. Prior to this I've skiied 45 plus years never got hurt.
The incident happened saturday unloading at the top of the lift. I prefer not to get into details but bottom line I ended off the lift platform and when I was going to ski down to the trail parallel to the lift platform I was stuck in the forehead by the chair of the chair lift heading down the hill. If I was 6ft 5 it could have been my throat. Ouch, the mental thought of this happening is simply brutal. I have 9 stitches and a sore neck.
If that's not bad enough my brother- in -law was riding up the chairlift sunday mourning with his 9 year old daughter. He witnessed a snowboarder hit a tree or a set of trees extremely hard on a expert run. The snowboarder was killed. No helmet. We saw in the news he was with a church group and he was a unbelievable person 21 years old I believe.
I'm sure all are prayers are with his family and the families of the Copper Harbor group. I plan to recover. My Scandinavian ancestry must give out hard heads.
