Trail 109 south of Houghton is a favorite of ours. Heading up tonight. Has anyone ridden this trail yet so you can give us a report on condition?

Twin Lakes end of 16 miles is excellent but from Baraga's end of 109, report isn't real good yet but haven't heard for the last couple days.

Talked to a guy at hotel this morning that rode up to Houghton from Watersmeets yesterday and said bottom half needs groomer work, passable..but rough. We want to take that loop Friday and waiting on Baraga to update groomer report, should be able to work that trail now with fresh snow??

Made the loop from Mass City to Sidnaw by taking 109 then to 15/8 to Bruces then 3 north; all of it was magnificent.

I love this trail but why is the south end alway crappy??

Consult with the Baraga tourism office. It seems they turnaround about 7 miles before they are supposed to year after year. Baraga is to groom all the way through to the power line. That is where they meet the Superior Snowmobile Club maintained trails. I don't think water is a issue at this time with the cold temps they have had, how ever I'm not UP there. Be nice, and inquire!

Rode the 109 today January 7th about 11:30 am...top section was excellent with fresh snow on top of well groomed trail, couple long trackers out playing in the bush. The bottom half did see Baraga groomer, still a few bumps in wet areas, but not too bad.
J9 is not a fan of this trail, but good break from the grades.. Snowing and blowing all day. Braaap
