Talked to a guy at hotel this morning that rode up to Houghton from Watersmeets yesterday and said bottom half needs groomer work, passable..but rough. We want to take that loop Friday and waiting on Baraga to update groomer report, should be able to work that trail now with fresh snow??
Consult with the Baraga tourism office. It seems they turnaround about 7 miles before they are supposed to year after year. Baraga is to groom all the way through to the power line. That is where they meet the Superior Snowmobile Club maintained trails. I don't think water is a issue at this time with the cold temps they have had, how ever I'm not UP there. Be nice, and inquire!
Rode the 109 today January 7th about 11:30 am...top section was excellent with fresh snow on top of well groomed trail, couple long trackers out playing in the bush. The bottom half did see Baraga groomer, still a few bumps in wet areas, but not too bad.
J9 is not a fan of this trail, but good break from the grades.. Snowing and blowing all day. Braaap
