Trail #2

Can anyone tell me if trail#2 goes through Rapid River? I have some older maps and it looks like the trail stops and restarts on the other side of town. I am just looking for a big loop well we are up in the UP and if we have snow in the south this year.
Thanks.

At the top of little Bay De Noc.

Sorry can't help you at all as never heard of Rapid River or Bay De Noc must be way way east. Been to western end of Trail 2 many times & east to Iron Mountain. I really like trail 2 as opens up after Iron River very different from western end but beyond IR always tuff snow conditions as well & last year no snow conditions.

To the best of my knowledge the trails doesn't go through to Escanaba. There hasn't been good snow in that area in the eight years I have lived there.

About 10 years ago a friend and I did the loop you are talking about and went through Rapid River. It is touch and go trying to find your way through there. There was some road running where you questioned where you were going with minimal snow on the sides and very few blazers - like next to none. We spend most of our time following other other tracks. However, looking back on it, it had to be one of the best trips we took - 900 miles in 4 days of riding going to places we had never been before. My recommendation would be to do it but make sure there is enough snow and you have a full tank

i know there is a trailhead in rapid but i thought you could go west from there but i don't rember if we took forestry roads. i rember we took a rr grade back from guinn that wasnt on any trail map.
