Trail closing

Does anyone know if the Alston Trail in Twin Lakes will be open for the snowmobiling season? (trail 109) Currently there are locked gates that have been erected in the last week or so. Also no trespassing signs have been erected. Is this part of the trail private property or a seasonal road. Currently you can not even ATV on this section. Also has a tree or two down across the trail.

We are finding more and more trails, two tracks, and roads that were open to ATV'S in the Eastern U.P. that have new closed signs on them. Seems to me the raise in the ORV and Trail permit prices have allowed for funds to the DNR and Forest Service to purchase signs to close the trails not create new ones.

This is what is wrong with ATVing. I have ATVs but very seldom go because you can never figure out what is open or what used to be is no longer, but you can bet law enforcement will be sitting right there waiting for you.

It's nuttz,,,,,, the Michigan DNR will dig a big ditch and put up all kinds of orange barricade fencing up on a little travelled two track to a certain waterfall because it goes
thru State land.

Trail is closed and snowmobile club is working on a re-route. Hopefully this will be completed before trail brushing so the club can brush/sign the re-route and have it complete before Dec. 1st.

Closing 109 is huge sure hope the reroute is in the woods. No 109 trail cuts off Twin Lakes & Sidnaw just leaves 15 pipeline connection to LAnse not good for Sidnaw biz..... What happened to cause closing? 12 is a no go for me not really a trail side of plowed road not worth riding for me.

Land owner dispute, one family with four 10 acre plots one next to the other.

40 Acres of trail not that big of a deal to reroute but probably longer due to twists & turns & a PITA for sure. Always going to be problems like this & club needs to make the best of it.

Sounds like there could be a lot of extra work. Would be good to know before the clean up weekend so enough people show up to get all the work done.

I can get some peeps together to help cut this reroute but need details. We ride thru Sidnaw all the time so feel we should help. :)

FYI ,the Sidnaw mini mart is being turned into a bar/ grill with gas. They have to put in a new septic and it seems to be the biggest hurdle . I hope they get it back open soon. They plan on being open 9am to 10 pm during the week and may stay open longer on the week ends. As far as 109 goes, I haven't taken it in years,a local showed me a faster way :) :) :)

Cool they said they wanted to do that this summer but you never know if it will really happen. How is Sidnaw Eats doing they were talking about gas pumps & pay at pump option?

Trail 109 should be open for the season. Section west of Emily Lake Road should be a minor reroute running parallel to current trail. Section east of Emily Lake Road, they have been ordered to take down the gates. THINK SNOW.
