Is 109 north out of Sidnaw open and groomed?

Is trail 15 from Chassel to 3 open and groomed?

Thanks

I have not heard of connecting Chassel to trail 3. The old trail was closed years ago. Road running is all you can do.

But if you are going to try road running it, I encourage you to check with the folks at the …
(click →) Green Light Resort for the recommended back-road route.

Running a snowmobile on the section of the Chassell-Painesdale Freeway, er… Road up/down the hill from US41 to Paradise Road (1.6 miles) while dodging logging trucks and other heavy traffic all haulin' azz (and trying to get across to/from M-26 on the west side of Houghton without traveling through the Mich Tech campus on US-41) and with a number of culverts in the right-of-way is definitely not a good plan.

I live in Chassell and 15 is a dead end as far as groomed trail. You can get from Chassell To Painesdale via the back roads and ditches, or there is an ungroomed grade from Chassell to Houghton that will follow through to downtown and finally connect with 3.

Also Baraga to Chassell could be impassible right now because of the swamps not being frozen.

I was on 109 this past Saturday. Came in from the south on 12 until it hit 3. Overall, in good shape. There were a few rocks and small puddles but they were easy to ride through/around. Have fun!

Agree 100% with all frnash has said. The Green Light used to have a some what map to help out.
