Trail riding the YAMAHA APEX MTX

Anyone have a MTX (new to me) and trail it more than 50% of the time you ride? We ride trails to POW and then back via trails, sometime 100 plus miles a day. Wondering if they overheat and or eat hyfax? I would think ICE Scratchers would help some, but what else would I need to do to ride it that much on the trail?
