Trailer lights

Ok, I am not an electrical engineer and have only had the trailer for 3 years......when I connect my 4 pin adapter to my 2007 Tahoe, one of the led lights on my adapter is lit(there are three). I believe the lack of the other two being lit or just one of them being lit indicates an issue. When plugging in my trailer, I get all the running lights to come on, however the hazards, brake lights, and turn signals fail to work? I am thinking there is an issue with my wiring harness on the truck. I have checked all the fuses in the vehicle for the auxiliary and trailering functions according to the owners manual and none of them appear to be burned out. One easy thing to do is plug another vehicle into the trailer and if the lights work....it has to be something with my truck or the adapter is broken somehow? Could someone suggest a process for me to determine what the issue is here? My old man has a multi-meter so I could get that if necessary.....thank you everyone for reading.... Dan

if your using a gm adapter they do go bad , the left pin on your truck is left turn & stop , the right pin is rt turn & stop

I have an 04 Suburban similiar to yours and the prongs on the plug may need to be adjusted out as they may not be making contact with the harness of the trailer. I've never had great luck with the GM receptacle whether plugging into a 7 pin harness or adapter. Check the contacts as others have suggested too.

Good Luck!

rp7x and harski beat me to it. The prongs in the plug might not be making contact. I had a plug where a prong actually pushed back into the housing.

Just went through this last weekend with an 05 Escalade. There was a small amount of corrosion between the wire harness and plug. Emery papered the pins clean and that took care of it.

I have had this problem myself many times. As posts have stated try another tow car, this will tell you if trailer is right. Another tip is to NOT hook trailer hitch to Ball , this will make sure that you are not using hitch for ground.
