Trailer Tires ?

Currently have some LoadStar K 550's ( ST 205/75/14's ) They are shot, I don't know how many miles we put on them but it was plenty. does anyone have any recommendations ? Are regular tires better ? The dual axle set-up I have on my inline seems to cock & jack the tires at different angles when I back up , so the tires did not wear evenly.

Any input on some premium tires for trailers no matter what the cost would be appreciated. Looking for the BEST.

I am not a tire guy but the one thing I do is put the heaviest Ply tire I can on the rim. People always say heat kills a tire and I figure less rolling resistance means less heat. I put load range E tires 80PSI on my 2 place trailer. The tires are a little more money but I never have any concern about overloading the tires (Just eveything else)

Thanks skeeter... That gives me some info , now I know what the " D " stands for on the side of them, unfortunately I'm no tire expert either. I tend to learn or be a quick study as soon as I have to spend some money on them. I can tell you plenty about tires & rims & offsets for the new F-150 ! ( LOL )

You really want to stick to a trailer service tire, not a car type radial tire. Trailer tires have a better sidewall design for carrying loads and not for traction in a linear motion(driving). The higher the sidewall ply rating the more weight it will carry (C,D,E etc) the cheaper tires will have a lower rating, so be alert to that. Loadstars are a good tire. If you were happy with the life, then get them again. If you have the means, add some shocks to the trailer, will help with the bouncing and the loading of the tires during the bounce.

Every time you go up one letter you go up two plies. B=2 ply c=6 ply d=8etc

Thanks, I did do a little research, and if I go to an " E " I will have to move the fenders up a little. The rims have to be 15" for that. Didn't think about shocks, but thanks for the idea. I also learned about the trailer vs pass car tire difference, trailer tires are totally different like you said. Kind of surprised me. I would have thought that trailer tires were a lesser tire but it is the opposite. They are actually designed kind of tougher.
